Past Programs and Services

​A selection of past programs and services offered in recent years:

  • American Graduate Fellowships
    The American Graduate Fellowships were designed to promote and support doctoral study in the humanities by accomplished graduates of small and mid-sized private liberal arts colleges. Two fellowships were awarded annually through 2011.
  • CIC Historic Campus Architecture Project (HCAP)
    Launched in November 2006 with generous support from the Getty Foundation, the Historic Campus Architecture Project website offers the first nationwide architecture and landscape database of independent college and university campuses.
  • Effective Practices Exchange
    The Effective Practices Exchange was comprised of a collection of brief descriptions of successful initiatives that promoted student learning beyond the campus and also served community interests.
  • Institutional Diagnostic Service for New Presidents
    The Institutional Diagnostic Service (IDS) provided consultation service to recently appointed college and university presidents.
  • Network for Effective Language Learning
    The Network for Effective Language Learning (NELL) program helped institutions explore innovative approaches to foreign language learning.
  • President Trustee Dialogues
    These regional meetings, offered by CIC together with the American Academic Leadership Institute (AALI), brought together small groups of five to six presidents and one or two trustee leaders from each institution.
  • Teachers for the 21st Century
    The Teachers for the 21st Century program sought to help college and university faculty members become more familiar with 21st century teaching skills and technologies.
