Engaging Evidence Consortium

CIC’s Engaging Evidence Consortium will provide up to 40 colleges and universities with guidance and resources to conduct a campus project that uses assessment data to improve student learning. Institutions in the network will undertake projects that are close to the heart of the instructional mission—helping students to learn and to succeed academically. Institutions
will propose a campus project that is specifically designed to use outcomes assessment data to make significant adjustments in curriculum, pedagogy, or student support toward increased student learning. Consortium members will participate in a two-and-a-half-day workshop in which leading experts will facilitate discussions of pertinent assessment topics. This program is funded by the Teagle Foundation.

 Current Status

Forty CIC colleges and universities were selected to join the Engaging Evidence Consortium. Institutions were chosen on the merits of their project proposals and reflect the diversity of independent higher education. Teams from Consortium institutions participated in a two-and-a-half-day workshop held August 5–7, 2012, in Washington, DC, during which leading national experts made presentations on pertinent assessment topics. Campus leaders shared information about successful projects, and campus teams discussed in small groups how they can implement what they have learned. In October 2012, all teams submitted interim reports and applied for campus grants to CIC.

Learn more about the Consortium program, as well as background on the application process, in the Engaging Evidence Consortium brochure.
