Project activities

The Planning for Leadership program showed that modest grants to recently appointed college presidents could have a significant impact on an institution's future. Recognizing the shortened lifespan of the college presidency and the ongoing changes in higher education that college presidents face, CAPHE established the Planning for Leadership program in 1993. The program provided modest financial support to college presidents to institute planning activities that strengthened their institutions for a new era. Colleges used these grants to plan and undertake strategies for institutional reorganization, curricular improvement, re-focusing community outreach and resource-sharing partnerships, improvement of institutional research and accountability systems, as well as to develop an institution's role in statewide K-16 education reform effort.
