2000 Presidents Institute
Accommodations and Travel Information
Sheraton El Conquistador Resort and Country Club
The Presidents Institute will be held at the Sheraton El Conquistador,
10,000 North Oracle Road in Tucson. The conference room rates are $150
per night single/double occupancy, $199 per night for junior suites, and
$239 per night for one bedroom casita suites (plus 8.5% tax). The hotel
will honor the CIC conference rate for 3 days before and following the
Presidents Institute. In addition, the hotel is making a limited number
of rooms available over New Year’s Eve at a discounted rate of $209.

Be sure to state that you are with the Council of Independent Colleges
Presidents Institute to guarantee the group rate. Hotel Deadline for reservations

Transportation
The Sheraton El Conquistador is approximately 45 minutes from Tucson International
Airport. Shuttle Service is provided by Arizona Stagecoach and is approximately
$24 one way/$38 roundtrip. To make arrangements for this service, please
call 520-889-1000. Taxi and limousine service is also available and is
approximately $40 each way. To arrange taxi or limousine service, call
the hotel concierge at 520-544-5000.
Airline Discount
CIC has arranged special airline discounts through American
Airlines. To make your reservations using the discount, call either
American directly at 800-221-2255 or Judi Gardner at Metro World Travel

Automobile Rental
CIC has also arranged a discounted rate with Hertz
and Avis for attendees choosing to rent
automobiles during the 2000 Presidents Institute. To take advantage of
the discount, you will need to call Hertz at 800-654-2240 and refer to
Meeting #5894. For Avis, please call 800-331-1212 and give them the reference
number AWD#B136000.
Child Care and Activities
The hotel provides baby-sitting services on request at an hourly rate.
In January, there is no formal day camp program. However, activities available
on the property for children include swimming, biking, tennis, and horseback
riding.
