Stephen R. Acker
Director, Learning Technologies Research and Innovation
Associate Professor of Communication
The Ohio State University
Steve Acker’s research and teaching are in the areas of new media
technologies and educational innovation. He serves on the editorial boards
of Journal of Computer Mediated Communication, Journal of Broadcasting
and Electronic Media, and is co-editor of eLearning Dialogues. Dr. Acker
is an Apple Distinguished Educator and a 2003 Frye Leadership Fellow.

Richard Katz
Vice President
EDUCAUSE
In addition to his position as Vice President of EDUCAUSE, Richard Katz
is also the founding director of the EDUCAUSE Center for Applied Research
(ECAR). ECAR was established to produce high quality applied research
to support senior decision-makers in higher education. Katz is also responsible
for corporate relations within EDUCAUSE and guides the association’s
priorities in the administrative information systems arena.
Before joining EDUCAUSE in 1996, Katz held a variety of management and
executive positions spanning 14 years at the University of California
(UC). At UC, Katz was awarded the Gurevich Prize, the Olsten Award, and
was the 2nd recipient of that University’s Award for Innovative
Management and Leadership.
Katz is the author, co-author or editor of six books, two research studies,
and more than 50 articles and monographs on a variety of management and
technology topics. His book Dancing with the Devil was deemed one of the
10 most important education-related books of 1999 by Lingua Franca. He
received his B.A. from the University of Pittsburgh, and his MBA from
UCLA.

Scott Siddall
Assistant Provost and Director of Instructional Technology
Denison University (OH)
Scott Siddall is responsible for technology in the curriculum including
media services at Denison. He leads the "Learning Spaces Project,"
an on-going effort to enhance all types of learning spaces. Scott is involved
in several national and regional higher education initiatives related
to instructional technology, digital asset management, open source software
development and support, and video conferencing. Scott is a graduate of
Case Western Reserve University and holds a doctorate in biological oceanography
from the University of Miami. For more than twenty years, he has been
working in technology management in higher education at both large (SUNY
- Stony Brook) and small (Kenyon College, Denison University) institutions.

Helen C. Barrett

Dr. Helen Barrett is on the faculty of the College of Education at the
University of Alaska Anchorage. She has been researching strategies and
technologies for electronic portfolios since 1991, publishing a website
(http://electronicportfolios.org),
an Apple Learning Interchange exhibit (http://ali.apple.com/ali_sites/ali/exhibits/1000156/),
chapters in several books on Electronic Portfolios, and numerous articles.
She has been on loan to the International Society for Technology in Education
since 2001, working as the Assessment Coordinator for ISTE’s National
Educational Technology Standards and providing training and technical
assistance on electronic portfolios for teacher education programs throughout
the U.S. under a federal PT3
grant. She is currently working on several book projects on electronic
portfolios.

J. Wesley Baker
Distinguished Professor

Wes is the TLM at Cedarville University, where he serves as a professor
of Electronic Media. He does workshops for his faculty on development
of online materials and the use of WebCT and has conducted “Classroom
Flip” workshops at numerous colleges and universities.

Rob Bobeldyk
Assistant Director of Teaching and Learning
Calvin College (MI)
Robert Bobeldyk has a MA in Education with an emphasis on teaching with
technology from Western Michigan University. He taught five years in an
elementary classroom before accepting a position at Calvin College as
an Instructional Designer. Robert is now the Assistant Director of Teaching
and Learning at Calvin College and teaches part time for the Education
and Computer Science Departments. In addition, he serves as an Education
Technology Consultant for many of the local schools and is the Web Master
for the Michigan Council for Exceptional Children.

Terry A. Ferguson
Director of Instructional Technology Laboratory
Wofford College (SC)
Dr. Terry A. Ferguson has been a member of the faculty and taught Geology
and Anthropology at Wofford College since 1984. He has been the Director
of the Wofford Instructional Technology Laboratory since 1991. He is currently
a member of the executive council of the South Carolina Partnership for
Distance Education and is currently the chairman of the Higher Education
constituency for that organization.

David Lawrence
Associate Professor of Communications and a Co-director of the New Media
Studies Program
Alma College (MI)
David Lawrence joined the faculty at Alma College in 1996. David has taught
many well received faculty development workshops on technology topics
on diverse topics such as web design, productivity tools and graphics
design. His current interests include the development of multimedia student
portfolios, multimedia technologies and new media studies.

Rudy Ledesma
Asst. Professor of Business
Marian College (WI)
Rudy Ledesma holds a Ph.D. in economics (minor in finance) and a B.S.
in mechanical engineering. He is a full-time faculty member of Marian
College's business administration division. A failed comedian before stumbling
his way to Marian, Rudy worked as research director of NCI Research, a
research arm of the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern
University in Evanston, Illinois. A published short story writer, Rudy
is also an aspiring novelist and cartoonist. He believes he’s on
the verge of something big even though he doesn’t yet know what
it is.

Myles McNally
Professor of Computer Science and Faculty Technology Coordinator
Alma College (MI)
Myles McNally has over 20 years of teaching experience and has taught
a number of well received faculty development workshops over the years
which focused on internet-based technologies such as web design, Javascript,
and Flash. His current interests include Java, XML and modern website
design.

Karen Petitto, Ed. D.
Instructional Technology Specialist
West Virginia Wesleyan College
Dr. Karen R. Petitto has been a faculty member at West Virginia Wesleyan
College for 12 years. Currently she teaches in the Computer Science department
and has a 3/4 appointment as Instructional Technology Specialist for the
college. As IT Specialist, she leads workshops and works with faculty
either individually or by department to integrate the use of technology
into the curriculum and research. WVWC has a technology training program
for freshmen that Dr. Petitto also plans and facilitates. She has presented
at both national and regional events, written on the topic of Ubiquitous
Computing in EDUCAUSE Review and in other local publications; and she
has worked with many other small colleges across the nation on the implementation
of ubiquitous computing programs.

Nancy Zylstra
Training Specialist
Calvin College (MI)
Nancy entered the technology field in 1986, as a data-analyst. She has
been writing training material, teaching workshops, and working as an
independent consultant since the early 1990s. For the past 10 years Nancy
has served Calvin College as the Teaching & Learning Training Specialist,
Blackboard System Administrator, Instructional Designer, and a college
course instructor.
