Teaching World Languages: Strategies for Success

The Teaching World Languages: Strategies for Success conference intended to address the fact that many CIC institutions are unable to offer the variety of foreign languages that are central to a liberal arts education in the contemporary world and many institutions have seen declining enrollments in the languages they already offer. Campus teams came together to share methods of language instruction that have proven effective at smaller colleges, allowing them to return to their campuses with new strategies for improved language instruction.

 Final Status

The conference took place on March 31–April 2, 2011, in Little Rock, Arkansas. Approximately 30 institutions participated in the conference. Each participating institution sent a two-person team that included one full-time faculty member from a language department (preferably a department chair) and the institution’s chief academic officer.
