Protocol for Collaboration

The Protocol for Collaboration is a formal agreement signed by CIC, the Foundation for Independent Higher Education (FIHE), and the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU), to work together more closely on joint projects and programs benefiting private colleges and universities. Since its signing in the summer of 2000, numerous ongoing collaborative projects have resulted from the agreement, including Building Blocks for 2020, the Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT), the FIHE/UPS Venture Fund, and production of the publication Independent Colleges and Universities: A National Profile.

Currently, the CIC and FIHE staff members, memberships, and boards of directors, have agreed upon and are in the process of merging CIC and FIHE, to further increase the ability for collaboration.
