Business
and the Liberal Arts: Integrating Professional and Liberal Education
With support from the James S. Kemper Foundation, CIC held "Business
and the Liberal Arts: Integrating Professional and Liberal Education,"
a symposium on the relationship of the liberal arts to business on May
3-5, 2007 in Chicago, IL. The goal of the symposium was to identify best
practices among CIC member institutions in programs that combine a sound
liberal arts education with preparation for careers in business.
Program Status: Faculty members from 24 institutions
participated in the symposium, held on May 3-5, 2007 (see "CIC
Convenes Second Symposium..." in the summer 2007 Independent).
The symposium was the second in a series convened by CIC with generous
support from the James S. Kemper Foundation.
BUSINESS
AND THE LIBERAL ARTS:
Integrating Professional and Liberal Education
CIC published a volume summarizing the 2007 symposium. The publication
focuses on programmatic examples of how studies in business and the liberal
arts can be successfully combined. It emphasizes models of “best
practice” at CIC member institutions that will be useful to others
in higher education. Print copies are available
for order through the CIC website. A PDF copy is also available
here.
2007 Symposium Nomination Materials: Below are nomination
materials available prior to the symposium.
