CIC co-sponsored, with
the Association for Institutional Research (AIR), two workshops this
fall on the use of comparative data in institutional decision-making.
The Data and Decisions Workshops, held September 25-27 in
Denver, CO and October 9-11 in St. Charles, IL (near Chicago), included
50 two- and three-person institutional teams. The workshops were subsidized
by a grant AIR received from the National Center for Education Statistics.
The
workshops assisted college and university leaders in making strategic
decisions based on targeted information about their own institutions
and up-to-date information about peer institutions. As with the pilot
workshop on this topic held in December 2002, these workshops were
filled to capacity. CIC and AIR expect to hold one such workshop each
year for the next several years.
